Hi Folks,

I'm not familiar with El Campello but am looking at coming out in the near future, with a view to having a good look around and exploring some nearby areas, with the intention of permanently residing (retiring) in the area. I was initially going to choose Santa Pola area, but some comments on similar forums have put me off, and suggest I look north of Alicante where the transport links are much better and the beaches are also good.

I would prefer a villa or townhouse, not an apartment or on a complex. I've done some property searches and am struggling to find anything in EC. Most properties in my price range appear to be in outer lying areas. Two areas in particular look nice - the area around Cala D'or / Cala Lanuza, and also in The El Dorado Country Club Cotoveta, between Mutxamel and EC. There seems to be enough facilities (shopping / bars / restaurants) in the first area, but I'm struggling to see much in the El Dorado area...perhaps a car is essential - which I don't really want to use.

Any thoughts about these areas would be welcome, together with advice on other areas I could consider.

Many thanks

Bernie

There is nothing on the El Dorado Country Club. There are a few bars/cafes on Bonalba Golf behind Dorado and Mutxamel which Dorado comes under is a few minutes drive away. The only problem with Campello and surrounding areas is it is very seasonal. Ideal for holiday home but permanent living is different. I sold a villa on Dorado last year. Watch out for the prices though. There are properties listed on there that are no longer for sale. If you do want to look on there contact KS International. Salva and Katie are very helpful. I know they have 3 on there at the moment. Cala D'or and Venta Lanuza again there is nothing there. Any of those 3 urbanisation you will have to drive to anything.

Hi Bernie.  Coveta Fuma, just 2/3 kilometres north of El Campello.  Tram stop at Cala Piteris.  We moved there some 5 years ago from Scotland.  Beautiful views over the Bay of Alicante.  Tram and bus links to everywhere.  A bit hilly but good for exercise and general well-being.  Villas on each side of Calle Italia and south along the coast road to the village of Coveta Fuma itself. Initially try CostaCoveta Estate Agents for this area, but there are others.  Good Luck,  Alex.
