My wife and I  are in the process of working out everything we need to fulfil the requirements of a Non Lucrative Visa.

We are toying with the idea of instructing a Solicitor to deal with this for us instead of attempting it ourselves.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of the cost of a Solicitor dealing with the application ?

It obviously would be a joint application.

We have all the finance requirements in place but the paperwork looks daunting ....to say the least.

Thanks in advance

Andy

You've got to apply in the UK, so if you are thinking of using a Spanish solicitor, you are just chucking your money away.

I got these costs from Sun Lawyers last week, the cost are per person:

“The fee of 350€ is for the Visa preparation and support and once you have the Visa in your passport you then arrive in Spain and have to apply to become a resident which is the TIE , this process we also prepare and organise the appointment for and our fee for this is 250€.”

On top this you need to pay for the required documents to be translated and apostle stamped and obviously the visa fees etc.

Hi Thanks for that,

I should have clarified my Post, I was looking for a Solicitor to guide me through the forms, the Documentation required etc, how to complete them, authorised Translators, Certified Notaries in my area etc so I have all the forms completed in a satisfactory way to allow my appointment at the Spanish Consulate in London to go smoothly.

I have heard a lot of stories about forms not being completed or missing documentation which has resulted in a Declined Visa therefore having to pay another £516 and wait

While that guide is useful, the different consulates in the UK seem to interpret some of the guidelines differently. For someone who has already sold their home in the UK and is reliant on getting their visa through at the first time of asking, paying for an experienced firm to do some of the work and ensure that the application is presented in the best way for the particular consulate that the applicant needs to use is possibly worth paying for.

As an analogy, when buying a house in the UK it is possible to do the conveyancing yourself without needing to pay for a solicitor. There are guides on the interweb that will take you through the steps.  For most people however, when carrying out one of the most important legal processes of their lives, they prefer to pay a professional to do this for them.
